About ME!

As I learn about our grade 6/7 Phoebe families, I realize you may wish to know about the person teaching your children! My name is Michelle Eisen, and I am coming from Meadowbrook Public School, where I spent my first five years of teaching. There, I taught music from K-8, and grade 7/8 homeroom.

Before I became a teacher, I studied Science at York University, and continued learning through completing a Masters program in Child Development and working in research labs. Through my four years in research, I studied Cognition and Music, Cognition and Multilingualism, Nutrition and Learning, and Literacy. When I began my career as a teacher, I was lucky enough to work at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, facilitating group therapy for children with cancer, and their siblings. As well, I facilitated music therapy at the Bellwood Centre for Addiction, as well as at the South Asian Autism Awareness Centre.

I had the opportunity to meet a great group of soon-to-be teachers and formed a band called, Leading Notes. We aimed at educating children through music and were able to share our music at Indigo when we released our first CD. You can count on music making regular appearances across subjects as we learn!

I look forward to working with each of our families to ensure we have a great year ahead!

Sincerely,
Michelle Eisen
