Here's What's New in November!

GENIUS HOUR Projects!

Our GENIUS HOUR projects have really taken off! Some of the topics include...

- photography
- choreography and dance
- teaching art
- hair styling
- video game programming
- prop design and creation
- art portfolios
- perfecting a magic routine

Through GENIUS HOUR, the students are demonstrating ownership over their learning, innovation, creativity, problem-solving, intrinsic motivation to learn, and inquiring minds. It is incredible to see what ideas they come up with, and how they work to navigate through their learning.

In SCIENCE, students are demonstrating their understanding of how ecosystems including all living things are connected, and how WE can positively (and negatively) impact our planet NOW and in the FUTURE.

REMINDERS:

1) Please make sure you are signing work that goes home. If you are unsure as to what needs to be signed, please visit our HOMEWORK page, as these items are listed here as they are assigned.

2) Student-Led Conferences - These take place THIS Thursday night and Friday morning. As work has been arriving home for signatures, and the schedule and homework is updated (almost) daily, I hope that our families are feeling well informed of their child's progress. I am looking forward to having further discussions with each of you, and continuing to work together towards your child's success! Please don't forget your child - he/she is a very important part of the student-led conference!

3) MOVIE -  Please make sure you have gone onto CASH ONLINE to complete the form and pay for our trip to see the movie, WONDER.  We are looking forward to seeing how this incredible book shows up on the big screen! (December 6th)

4) REMINDER - SICK DAYS and INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS - Your child is responsible for handing in work in a timely manner, even when he/she is away. If your child needs an extension on work, please note that it is his/her responsibility to approach the teacher and ask for one. Please make sure your son/daughter checks the homework blog and catches up on missed lessons and notes EACH TIME there is an absence. Students tend to begin to feel lost and behind after missing school, and catching up on work will ensure students are able to jump right back in where they left off!

Please visit the MATH, LITERACY, and ARTS pages for updates!
